Window Alarms

by Christie Millen

Have you ever been the victim of a break-in? Thousands of homes across America are broken into all the time. Much of this has to do with bad neighborhoods and deviant criminals prowling the streets for a quick buck, but home security is also an issue. How well do you secure your home? I must admit, I have reached the point where I actually have installed window alarms on every window in my home. In addition to a dead bolt on each door, and surveillance cameras, I feel fairly on top of things. While many individuals may see this as paranoid, I would like to remind you again that thousands of homes are penetrated every day. Now, the question is; when will it be your home that's targeted for a random break-in?

Home security is no joke these days. In more contemporary times, criminals have just become bolder. These people are everywhere, and as much as many people would hate to admit it, they could be scoping out your home right now. One of the nifty, yet cheap devices I stumbled upon to help secure my home are window alarms. These babies didn't set me back and do a great job guarding each window. First of all, you should always keep your windows locked up tight if you're not at home or if you're going to sleep. Don't be one of those fools who leave the downstairs window wide open in the summer time because it's hot. You'd best invest in an air conditioner or fan because this is not safe. I literally know a woman who was attacked due to her window being left open at night. The police say the predator saw it as an easy target. Don't be an easy target. Keep those windows locked up and install some simple window alarms. They're no hassle to put in, and make a siren-like noise if the window is opened. This will alert you even if you're sleeping and most likely cause a potential aggressor to flee the scene. Criminals hate attention.

If you are in search of ways to secure your home, window alarms are certainly a good start. Granted, not everyone has a bundle of cash to drop on security systems. You can jump online and sift through a plethora of security devices that won't break the bank. In addition to inexpensive window alarms, you can also find some security cameras for a nice low price. This way you can monitor what's going on outside of your home at all times.
