Extended Stay America
I don't know about you, but when I go on vacation, my two biggest expenses are usually lodging and meals. It seems that I can always find great deals on airfare or rental cars, but a good hotel room at a decent price is much harder to come by. And when you consider the cost of eating at restaurants three times a day for the duration of the trip, you can easily see how things would quickly add up. But since I would rather spend my vacation money on fun things such as sightseeing and activities, I had to find a way to solve this problem. That's when I discovered Extended Stay America.
Extended Stay America is a national chain of hotels that offer rooms on a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis. The rates themselves are actually not that low; I would say they are on par with other famous family-friendly hotels. However, the best part of choosing to lodge at Extended Stay America is that each room comes with a kitchenette that features a stovetop, refrigerator, coffee maker, and toaster. This obviously allows you to purchase food from a grocery store and prepare your own meals rather than have to rely solely on restaurants or fast food during your vacation. Sure, sampling the local cuisine is a huge part of the fun of traveling; I'm certainly not suggesting that you stay in every single night. But be aware that even cooking for yourself just every other day would result in fairly substantial savings, especially if you have a large family.
Because of the name of the hotel, most people assume that Extended Stay America is suitable only for stays of a week or more. However, as I mentioned above, they offer daily rates as well. I've stayed there for as many as six weeks and for as few as three days before, and I can honestly say that I think the hotel is an excellent value even for the shorter stays. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and come with high-speed Internet connections, which is more than a lot of other national chains can lay claim to.
Extended Stay America hotels are located in major metropolitan areas across the country, so chances are you'll be able to find one no matter where you plan to go on vacation. Give this chain a try the next time you travel and see how much money this decision will save your family!
